#EraWithoutElectricity #FirewoodCooking #PrewarBuildings #ExteriorChimneys
Prior to households having electricity or gas, residents used firewood for cooking, so a chimney was essential to every household. Most people used firewood or charcoal as fuel for daily cooking, so it was necessary to have a chimney in the kitchen to direct the smoke from the stove on to the roof. All chimneys in the tenement buildings covered in this project were built with bricks.
